Sony Playstation PS3 - Not loading games? Laser Faults - £75.00
The PS3 laser is a common fault that we repair, the laser in the Playstation is prone to failure. Replacing the laser is the only way to rectify the problem when the PS3 stops reading discs. You can extend the life of your laser unit by making sure that any discs you play are clean and free from scratches. The harder it is for the PS3 to read the discs, the shorter the life of the laser.
Sony Playstation PS3 - Yellow light of death (YLOD) - £60.00
The YLOD (Yellow Light of Death) is one of the most common faults that we see on PS3 consoles that come in for repair. Once this fault is discovered, a game disc has often already become stuck within the blu-ray drive. During the repair process, we will remove the game disc and return it to you in a plastic cover when we return your console. It is important that you do not attempt to remove the game disc yourself, this can often cause the drive to become misaligned, which will require further work to rectify.
Sony Playstation PS3 - Drive not accepting discs - £30.00
Foreign objects inserted into the ps3 drive unit will stop your console from working. It is common for objects other than discs to be placed inside the drive unit. If your drive will not accept or eject discs or you hear a loud clicking sound then you will need the obstruction to be removed by a competent engineer.
Sony Playstation PS3 - Hard drive repair/upgrade - £POA
There are a couple of reasons why you may have the hard drive replaced in your PS3. You may want to increase capacity and gain more storage space, especially if you have an older model. Also after failure of the hard drive, a new hard drive will bring your PS3 back to full working order. Hard drive failure can occur due to the mechanical nature of the drive, just as hard drive failure can occur in computers. The errors seen can range from a message on the screen after boot up telling you that your hard drive is corrupt and your PS3 will be restored continually. Another sympton seen with hard drive failure can be the PS3 freezing when playing a game. This is due to the game attempting to write the game save to the hard drive and not being able to. Hard drive upgrades are offered to increase the capacity available for storage of your data on the PS3. With an upgrade all data that is on your Playstation is transferred across to the new hard drive, so none of your data or game saves are lost. The cost of a hard drive upgrade or replacement of a failed drive is provided at the time of repair. This is due to the fluctuating cost of hard drives and ensures that you will always receive great value for money.
Sony Playstation PS3 - Display reset
This is a common fault that can be caused if you move your PS3 to a different TV or have tried adjusting the display settings incorrectly. It is a simple procedure to rectify that many repair companies charge upwards of £20 to fix. To reset your Playstation AV display carry out the following procedure to boot into the hidden menu. Ensure that the red light is displayed on the front of the PS3 and hold the power button down until it goes to green and then back to red again. The next thing to do is to again hold down the power button until you hear one beep followed by a series of two beeps, as soon as you hear the two beeps take your finger off the power button, you will then see the display on the TV flicker and boot into the hidden menu. From this menu select the first option which is Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default. Take this option and your PS3 will now boot up as it did when you first used your PS3, all data and game saves should not be lost using this procedure, you are just resetting the common settings. Please note: TeamK will not be held liable for any data loss caused by using the above method as extreme care should be taken to ensure the correct option is selected.
